Skinny and Others

(Chudy i inni)

1967   >   psychological/ drama

Henryk Kluba’s directorial debut – a poetic presentation of the community of workers who are building a dam in Solina. The film’s asset are shots made at the authentic building site where the hydro energy development plan of the San river was executed.

Chudy is a foreman at the water dam building site. His team is made up of men who come from different walks of life and use peculiar nick names. A journalist, who does not inspire trust among the laborers, shows up. Pryszczaty, when drunk, knocks him down from the bridge into the river. An attempt to find the journalist is unsuccessful. The workers agree that they will not reveal Pryszczaty’s involvement in the incident on the condition he disappears. They also force Partyjny to leave. The grand opening of the bridge approaches. Partyjny and the missing journalist arrive at the scene. The brigade receives awards for a well-done job.
