(Bicz boży)

1967   >   Comedy/ action

A sensational – satirical comedy, ridiculing the hypocrisy of small town community. Spread rumors and made up stories drive the plot and lead to unexpected events.

A small Felek, his older brother Paweł and their mother dream of moving to Warsaw. Paweł is a investigation police officer and they hope to be able to leave the town when he gets promoted. It’s holidays so Felek has plenty of free time. He’s interested in the rumors brought over by his friend’s mother. One day he takes the book “Tajemniczy anonym” from his home bookcase. Having read it, he comes up with an idea to send anonymous letters to different people that would include a mixture of the heard rumors, suspicions and made-up situations. He assumes that the scared recipients of the anonymous messages will go to the police to report their ignoble deeds, which will help his brother’s promotion. However, the situation gets out of control. The town dwellers start talking about a dangerous blackmailer. In the meantime Paweł’s girlfriend makes up her mind to settle down with him in the town. The plan of moving to Warsaw is no longer valid and Felek owns up to what he has done.
