An original film homage to the tragically deceased Zbigniew Cybulski, a legendary actor known as „the Polish James Dean” whose outstanding performances became a part of the history of international cinematography, winner of the Super Golden Duck award for the best actor in the history of Polish cinema.
A compilation of scenes from Cybulski’s best known appearances, the film seeks to paint a unique portrait of the cult artist and at the same time create a symbolic biography of the iconic main character the actor was indentified with. It features excerpts from “A Generation”, “Ashes and Diamonds”, “Salto”, “The Codes”, “Jutro Meksyk”, “Jowita”, “Rozwodów nie będzie”, “Love at Twenty”, “Pingwin”, “Do widzenia, do jutra”, “Koniec nocy” and “Przedświąteczny wieczór”.
A middle-aged name called Zbyszek is having a nervous breakdown. In his mind, he goes deeper and deeper into the past, reminiscing about the events that determined his life. He contemplates his failed career as a sports coach, unfulfilled artistic ambitions and desperate search for love. The memory of a brief relationship with a much younger girl makes him realize that the source of his problems is his experience from the war which he cannot cope with. The mosaic of scenes and film excerpts reveals a classic tragic hero – the archetypal representative of the Generation of Columbuses, mutilated by the war and unable to find himself in the new reality.
