1962   >   drama/slice of life/psychological

A realistic family drama touching on problems and dilemmas which still exist today.

One of the first films directed by Jerzy Passendorfer, a war film specialist best known for  his TV series “Janosik”.

An adaptation of Jerzy Przeździecki’s novel “Jeszcze jeden do kochania”.

The film features outstanding performances by Lidia Korsakówna, who until then had been known mainly for her comedic roles, and six-year-old Grzegorz Roman, for whom it was his first appearance on the big screen.

An effectively journalistic film about the complicated situation of a child from a dysfunctional family, which is loved, but at the same time neglected and hurt. The authors pose difficult questions, leaving judgments and answers to the audience.

Adaś Celarski, a boy of less than 10 years of age, wanders around the streets of Warsaw all by himself before he is taken in by wealthy editor Opara and his wife. The boy wins their hearts and helps to save their marriage. The Oparas want to adopt him, but their plans are thwarted by the appearance of his mother. Adaś returns to his family home. It turns out that his mother is an alcoholic and her partner mistreats and exploits him. Despite this, there the mother and her son love each other very much. Meanwhile, the Oparas decide to fight in court for the right to bring up Adaś.
