What Will You Do When You Catch Me

(Co mi zrobisz jak mnie złapiesz?)

1978   >   Satirical comedy

A film by Stanislaw Bareja – the Polish master of comedy, director, screenwriter and actor. Hailed the comedy director of the century.

One of the top ten best and most popular Polish comedies.

The adventures of the director of a big enterprise, trying to save his endangered employment
by an advantageous marriage.

Director Krzakoski is on a business trip to Paris. He meets Danusia at the embassy and they spend the night together. He does not know she is the daughter of a party official. After several months she visits him at work and tells him she is expecting to bare his child. Trying to take advantage of this situation, Krzakoski plans to marry Danusia, but he has to divorce his wife first. This won’t be so easy.

The loose storyline is but a pretext for plenty of funny gags and scenes. The characters have
to dance around in the absurd reality of socialism.

A satire making fun of the anomalies of public-professional and family life. It’s jokes target
the ignorance of high ranking officials, it lampoons the logics of real socialism
and the pretentiousness of public life based on slogans and mottos.
