Follow-up of Jacek Bromski’s “U Pana Boga za Piecem” – a light and funny comedy that skillfully shows the peculiar characteristics of Polish countryside. The idyllic and carefree life of the town dwellers is intertwined with a criminal plot that poses a great challenge to the local police commander. A beautiful, warm and sunny picture, invoking nostalgia for a land of happiness and unperturbed tranquility.
Królowy Most is a small and peaceful town close to Białystok. Life has not changed much here for years and resembles a well-regulated routine. The key figures of the local community are the parson, who is also the narrator and commentator of the current events, and the police commander who has another thing to worry about. Agents from the Central Bureau of Investigation bring over the gangster Żuraw to his town, who is a crown witness in a trial against mafia. Being a witness, he gets a new identity, a great car and is placed in a luxurious villa. Besides this one great worry, the commander has also two minor pet peeves. His father – a retired firefighter climbs onto a factory chimney and only the bosom of Struzikowa – a buffet worker can convince him to get down. Moreover, the commander’s daughter – Luśka, despite her unquestionably attractive appearance, remains a single mother. A way to find a potential candidate for a husband is stopping drivers for exceeding the speed limit and subjecting them to a careful scrutiny at the police station. The commander’s idea consumes a lot of his subordinates’ time. Fortunately, the police headquarters send over police officer Marian Cielęcki to help out at the police station. The fact that he ended up in Królowy Most as a kind of punishment for being the worst student in the police school, remains a secret. Marian is very fond of the commander’s daughter, but unfortunately she’s not interested in him. The bored gangster Żuraw travels around in his SUV. Both the commander and the priest try to take care of his conscience and make him a decent man. Their efforts are crowned with a success only after a coup, which he survives thanks to intercession of the Holy Mary. The converted gangster falls in love with Struzikowa – the buffet worker. Unfortunately, the mafia goes to great lengths to silence him. Eventually, everything ends well thanks to the police officer Cielęcki, who becomes a hero.
