A light-hearted, inventive, at times surreal romantic comedy with star-studded cast.
The script was co-written by Edmund Niziurski, whose cult children’s and teenage books continue to attract new generations of readers… and filmmakers.
A crazy bet made years ago triggers a wave of comical events.
In 1859, two merchants have to make it to Cracow in their underwear after being robbed by bandits, facing numerous, often absurd difficulties on the way. During the trip, they make a bet which is to be settled in 100 years.
In 1959, descendants of the robbed merchants, Kasia Wydech and Marek Drapka, are made an unusual proposal. Marek has to make it in his swimsuit from Chęciny to Cracow in three days. If he succeeds, he will receive 1,000 gold coins. If he fails, the money will go to Kasia. The two main characters, who fell in love with each other the moment they met, are ready to give up on the prize, but their families and friends refuse to hear of it; moreover, they get actively involved in the fight for the coins. A competition begins, with not just the money, but also Marek and Kasia’s love being at stake.
