The story of Agata, a member of a rowing club, who’s ill invested feeling lead to frustration and despair.

Agata is supposed to row with the club’s team during a race organized for the club’s anniversary. She meets Robert and the acquaintance leads to affection. Unfortunately Robert is unfaithful he sleeps also with Agata’s trainer. A conflict arises between the girl and the trainer and in the end she is ousted from the team. Soon Agata meets Staszek a shipyard worker. They spend more and more time together. One day the boy takes her for a ride with a car. Breaking the law results in a police chase. Agata suspects that Staszek stole the car. She also realizes that her relationship with Robert has no future. By chance, she discovers his financial schemes. A discussion with the club’s president uncovers that the race will be the club’s last. The club will be disbanded and a restaurant will replace it, with Robert at its head. An outraged Agata unsuccessfully tries to stop the race. On the final banquet Staszek appears.
