Scream

(Krzyk)

1982   >   Psychological drama

One of the first full feature films by outstanding Polish director and screenwriter (for both TV and cinema) – Bartara Sass-Zdort, recipient of many prestigious awards in Poland and abroad.

Captivating performance by Dorota Stalińska as Marianna and Iga Cembrzyńska’s memorable bit part as the drunk mother.

Remarkable score by Wojciech Trzciński.

Marianna, a girl from the dregs of society leaves prison and starts working at a nursing home. Amongst others, she takes care of an old grumpy pensioner who has quite a fortune. Marianna unsuccessfully courts Marek the caretaker. When he leaves and the pensioner refuses to grant her a loan for a housing-related bribe tragedy ensues.

Perfectly depicted atmosphere of 1981. The nursing home is a clear metaphor of society.
