A young and pretty laboratory worker Ewa gets anonymous letters with threats. To meet the blackmailer’s demands she turns for help to Piotr, her ex-lover. The much older man takes care of the scared girl, whom he still loves. Continuous uncertainty and the sense of endangerment take an increasingly greater toll on Ewa’s psyche. The character becomes paranoid. She feels safe only in the company of Piotr, who wants to marry her. Despite a police intervention the case of the mysterious stalker is not explained. The anonymous letters could be written by anyone – a stranger, the character’s ex-boyfriend, Piotr, his abandoned wife… or even Ewa herself.
