Early work by Jerzy Passendorfer, who later became a war film specialist and achieved his greatest success with “Janosik” TV series.

An interesting film which under the guise of an action picture touches on important moral issues and criticizes the shortcomings of public healthcare system.

The main character is played by Polish film icon Stanisław Mikulski, who gained huge popularity thanks to his portrayal of Hans Kloss in the cult TV series “More Than Life at Stake” and remained popular among the subsequent generations of viewers. In this film, he is partnered by two beautiful actresses: Teresa Szmigielówna and Danuta Starczewska.

The film tells the dramatic story of a man who breaks the law to save the person he loves.

Taxi driver Janek’s wife Zosia is seriously ill. Only a foreign drug not available in local pharmacies can cure her. Desperate to save her, Janek resorts to all sorts of measures to get hold of the cure. When Zosia gets worse, a doctor sympathetic to his predicament talks him into appealing for help on the radio. Distraught by the initial lack of reaction, the man decides to accept the proposal of his criminal friend and take part in a customs house robbery. He doesn’t know that thanks to his appeal Zosia has already received the crucial drug.
