A story of Konrad, a 40-year-old romantic, who despite an undoubtedly successful professional career is still affected by his war experiences. As a representative of the so-called Generation of Columbuses, i.e. young people whose adolescence was marked by the tragic events of World War II, he has trouble finding his place in life, and therefore feels alienated and lost. A very good role of Zbigniew Cybulski.
Konrad is a recognized architect who is just about to go for a contract to Iraq. Unfortunately, due to some technical problems with the plane, he is forced to stay one more day in Warsaw. He kills time wandering around the city. He tries to contact his friend Ewa, but in vain. In a local bar he meets Basia and they go together to a student club. He doesn’t like the place, so he moves on. Walking along the streets of Warsaw, in his thoughts he keeps coming back to the times of the war. He gets drunk in one of the bars, returns to the club to fetch Basia and goes with her to Ewa. Ewa has another man at her place. Drunk Konrad is attacked by hooligans in the street. Eventually, he is taken to a drunk tank by the militia. On the next day he gets to the airport where Basia promises to wait for him.
