(Rykowisko)

1987   >   comedy/drama

A comedy full of verbal and situational humor, presenting a distorted picture of local interdependencies and diplomatic schemes.

Senator Caposta from the US, an American of Polish origin, is coming to Poland. The purpose of his visit are trade negotiations, yet he will come only if he can shoot an impressive deer. The hunt is to be led by Szałaj, who is just about to get out of prison. Szałaj used to be a forester and was fired by the forest inspector Siekierko. For the sake of the trade negotiations the officials form Warsaw want to see him reinstated and Szałaj demands dismissal of Siekierko. Basia, Szałaj’s wife announces that ten years ago she had a one night stand with Caposta. After a series of phone calls the Boss orders to dismiss Siekierko and give Szałaj his position. The senator arrives and Basia welcomes him. Caposta gives Szałaj a hunting weapon equipped with night vision optics. During the hunt the guests are invited to a specially built raised hunting box. Szałaj says he’s going to kill everybody unless a sauna and a fence around the natural reserve are dismantled. A deal is sealed with moonshine and the Senator can go to take part in the negotiations.
