The Trap

(Pułapka)

1971   >   action/ drama

An action story used as a background for a multidimensional portrayal of the complex situation in the Recovered Territories, just after the end of World War II. The filmmakers do not pass harsh, clear-cut judgments, showing the characters trapped in the loop of their experiences, prejudices and interpersonal relationships.

In the lead role Andrzej Kopiczyński, the unforgettable main character of the series “Czterdziestolatek”.

The year 1945. Major Jan Rajner comes back to his hometown in the Lower Silesia as the commander of the local garrison. His positive attitude towards the citizens of Silesia, treated unfriendly by Polish soldiers and newcomers, evokes suspicion in the major’s young wife and subordinate. The area is terrorized by Nazi saboteurs. Among them there is Willy, Rajner’s relative and old friend. Accused of collaborating with the enemy, the major establishes contact with Germans. In fact, his “betrayal” is part of a complex plan to capture the saboteurs.
