Moving

(Przeprowadzka)

1994   >   drama

Fear of mundane life and obsessing about a real manly adventure ends in tragedy. The film was initially blocked by censors. It premiered 10 years after it was made.

A wealthy married man, engineer Nowicki decides to drastically change his lifestyle. Planning to move out, he rents a van, but only takes one suitcase. He pops back into his apartment only to devastate it. Nowicki’s brother and father try to stop him, but the wanderlust is too strong and the van drives off. Nowicki tries to start a conversation with the driver, Staszek. When he’s not looking Nowicki steals the car and drives it straight into a group of skydivers. Staszek once hit a man while driving – he’s terrified. The next stage in the adventure is meeting roadside prostitutes. Nowicki goes to bed with one of them. Upon returning to the van, Nowicki finds his wife talking to Staszek. He doesn’t like that his wife is being so nice to the driver. He leaves them and walks away. He returns home and cleans up the mess. The van leaves from in front of the building. Nowicki is stretched out on the roof of the car. His apartment window is covered in blood.
