(Późne popołudnie)

1965   >   psychological

The portrait of a woman who doesn’t accept that time is passing, seen through the eyes of her adolescent daughter.

Maria lives with her daughter Tuńka and a man Janusz who rents a room in their apartment in a residential building in Poznań. Janusz dreams of traveling. He has pen pals in far-away countries. Maria works as a masseuse in a sports club. One day a new tenant arrives – Bożena. She was once Maria’s student. Janusz becomes interested in her. This causes Maria to reveal her long-hidden feelings for Janusz. Janusz and Bożena leave the apartment. Tuńka finds a stack of letters to Janusz, letters her mother had been hiding. Soon all four are living together again. Maria has to accept the choice Janusz made.
