Crossing moral boundaries, ruthless blackmail and mental instability in the form of a suggestive psychological study of a young man motivated by his overpowering passion for a married woman.
Marek and Halina, a married woman whom he just met, drive back together to Warsaw after a short stay in a guest house outside the city. On their way they are witnesses of an accident: a sledding child falls directly under the wheels of a passing car. In Warsaw, Halina is disappointed with Marek’s apartment and lifestyle. The first infatuation quickly fades away. She decides to return to her husband, who is an ambulance driver. Marek, who can’t accept her leaving, decides to win her back at all costs. He sells all his belongings, including a valuable camera. He comes up with an idea of staging the accident which they saw together with Halina. He drops a sled from a hill with a child dummy on it, straight under the wheels of an approaching car. Convinced that he has hit a child, the car driver runs away. Marek takes photos of the incident and finds the owner of the car. He begins to blackmail him. In exchange for not telling on him he demands his car. Marek invites Halina for a ride around the city. The fact that he has the car restores his faith in winning the woman back. The ride turns into a crazy, reckless drive. Suddenly Marek loses control, the car skids and flips. Halina dies in the crash.
