Placed in the 1980s, a demoralization process of a party apparatus man which leads to his senseless death.
The former governor Roman Ratajczak is found dead in the local public toilet. The militia officer Korczak is in charge of the investigation. Through flashbacks we learn more about Ratajczak’s life, his decisions and their consequences. He is shown as he tries to exonerate his son charged with a car theft. As he presses for a construction which was not approved by his superiors. As he argues with the director of the mine. As he fights with the militia. And ultimately as he resigns, according to him voluntarily, from his position. The former governor dies at the hands of a man that he once harmed.
