Harley's Tale

(Opowieść Harley'a)

1988   >   comedy/drama/adventure

A film ballad about love and chasing one’s dreams set in the youth culture of the late 80s of the 20th century. A contemporary version of the fairy tale about a poor man who marries a princess.

The events portrayed in the film are accompanied by the song “Mój Harley Davidson” (My Harley Davidson) performed by Mietek Szcześniak.

Janek, a poor student of a vocational school, falls in love with Irenka who comes from a wealthy family. The girl is also fond of him, however she doesn’t want to disobey her parents who want her to marry a much older Witek who is well off. By coincidence the boy encounters Marek, owner of a beautiful Harley. The biker left a girl he loved many years ago to fulfill his dream about a world-class career. When he returned it was already too late to get Elżbieta back. Seeing how much Janek resembles him in his young age, Marek gives him his motorcycle. The character becomes self-confident and decides to fight for Irenka. First, he enters her engagement party and later he takes her for a few-day-long trip… He wins her heart, however Witek, who’s furious, doesn’t want to let Irenka go.
