I Hate Monday

(Nie lubię poniedziałku)

1971   >   situation comedy

An iconic scene of Polish cinema –an actor (Bohdan Łazuka) pissed-drunk wandering around town following the tram lines.

One the top ten best and most popular Polish comedies.

A film directed by Tadeusz Chmielewski, a leading comedy director in Polish cinema,
a screenwriter and producer awarded the Polish Film Festival lifetime achievement award (Platinum Lions) in Gdynia 2015.

A comedy of errors. A given Monday becomes a series of unfortunate coincidences that occur to random characters. A director hurrying to pick up a foreign guest gets stuck in an elevator,
a traffic policeman has to simultaneously direct traffic and babysit his son, a caring grandson steals a car to drop off his grandfather. A drunk actor narrowly misses several accidents.

A multi-layered situation comedy. Simple everyday tasks are completed by absurdly laborious  methods. Every day reality shown as a struggle with life’s absurdities.
