An ingenious and hilarious adaptation of the popular novel by Wiktor Woroszylski under the same title.
The second film, after “I Ty zostaniesz Indianinem” made thanks to the collaboration between the film director Konrad Nałęcki, the writer Wiktor Worszylski and the iconic illustrator Bohdan Butenka.
Preparations for shooting a movie are underway in a film studio. The film is a story about two brothers: a large one “Duży” and a smaller one “Mniejszy”. The older brother runs away from home as a rebellious teenager. The younger one tries to find him, walking around the city with a nice dog Klops and a beautiful Filomena, who “Duży” has a secret crush on. With the help of an eccentric artist the runaway is found and agrees to come back home. The story comes to an end and so does the filmmaking process.
A funny convention and style makes “Mniejszy szuka Dużego” appealing also to adult viewers. The film director used a number of interesting tricks, for instance by pulling down the “fourth wall”, introducing animated elements and a motive of “a film embedded in another film”. The plot is held together by scenes showing the shooting of the film entitled “Mniejszy szuka Dużego” featuring authentic team members with the film director Konrad Nałęcki playing … the film director Konrad Nałęcki.
