A Cure for Love

(Lekarstwo na miłość)

1966   >   comedy/ criminal

A funny and masterful adaptation of the debut novel by Joanna Chmielewska, the undisputed queen of crime and the most popular Polish writer.

Kalina Jędrusik in the lead role - an actress, singer and scandalist, referred to as the "first sex bomb of the Polish People’s Republic".

A story of a criminal affair, which is solved thanks to a telephone mistake.

Unhappily in love, Joanna waits in vain for a phone call from her beloved. She only receives a number of wrong-number calls, which she finally starts to respond to. He does not know that in this way she is crossing the plans of a gang of robbers. At the same time Joanna becomes friends with a mysterious and handsome man to cure herself from unrequited love. Soon the woman begins to suspect that her new lover may be a criminal. Together with a friend she carries out an investigation, which ends up in kidnapping, a fight, the arrest of bandits and new, this time mutual, feelings.

Although the plot of “A Cure for Love” may seem absurd to today's viewer, after the release the film was praised for realism - wrong numbers were commonplace then...
