A film awarded during the 1981 Polish Film Festival in Gdańsk.
Another feature film based on the biography of Jerzy Skolimowski - international film festival award winner (Cannes, Berlin and Venice), recipient of several Eagles – awards of the Polish Film Academy.
The Film comprises of two parts. Originally shot in 1967 it was screened 14 years after completion and adding a new 20 minute sequence that allowed the censors to accept it
and present it to the public.
An impressive cast of Polish actors: Tadeusz Łomnicki, Adam Hanuszkiewicz, Bogumił Kobiela, Joanna Szczerbic.
Extraordinary music by notable composers: Krzysztof Komeda, Krzysztof Penderecki
and Józefa Skrzek.
In the first part (1981) we see loosely-tied scenes – reminitions, philosophical and esthetical musings of the narrator-protagonist about the life of an artist in the modern world. The second part (1967) is a surreal gathering of graduates who meet after many years. Alcohol provokes confessions. They reminisce the times of their student activism. Today they rate each other based on cars they own. This reminds them of their lost ideals.
