Love the Mermaids

(Kochajmy syrenki)

1967   >   musical/ comedy

A fun musical comedy featuring the great performances of two icons of the Polish art scene: Bohdan Łazuka and Jacek Fedorowicz.

Two friends, the carefree optimist, Marek and the shy dreamer, Aleksander, come to Masuria to buy a used car for a bargain price. Financial problems force them to work for Koszajtis, the head of the concert tour “We tour with a smile”. Thus, the characters get involved in the rivalry between two groups of potboiler artists: Koszajtis’ band and the big-beat band “Elements”. The situation is complicated by the fact that Marek falls in love with Dorota, the singer of "Elements", and the beloved car of the protagonists is actually a special modified car belonging to pair of crooks. After a series of unfortunate and absurd events, the friends are let go. Dorota leaves with them.

Jacek Fedorowicz, while writing the script, used the experience gained during his travels around the country.

The members of the authentic band “Tajfuny”, which gave regular concerts in the Warsaw Klub Stodoła played the "Elements" band members.
