Mr Anatol's Hat

(Kapelusz pana Anatola)

1957   >   comedy/ action

The first part of the incredibly popular trilogy about Mr. Anatol’s adventures.

A superb performance of Tadeusz Fijewski.

A comedy of errors with an inconspicuous character who has an incredible flair for getting involved in various criminal affairs.

Mr. Anatol Kowalski, a modest cashier at PZU, buys a new hat – an original Borsalino. Starting from this moment, strange things begin to happen around him. Mr. Anatol keeps finding precious objects in his pockets all the time. It turns out that because of his special hat he is taken for a fence. The police tries to arrest all the men wearing a Borsalino, however, in the meantime, the hats have become commonplace. Mr. Anatol’s suggestion helps fish out the real criminals from the crowd of hat wearers.

The screenwriters were assisted by consultants from the police criminal department to show the work of policemen in a realistic way.

The viewers of selected screenings of the comedy could draw one of the hats used during the filmmaking process.
