The film depicts the overview of Polish society just after the 1st World War, through the short presidency of Gabriel Narutowicz. It portrays the circumstances of the elections and perfectly depicts the spirit of the era. The film shows society’s reaction to the climactic event - the funeral of the assassinated President.
Through the storyline, the director presents the killers last words of just before hearing his sentence entwined with scenes presenting Narutowicz as an enlightened statesman.
