The first Polish crime film and at the same time the only crime film made by master of Polish comedy film Stanisław Bareja - a director, screenwriter and actor, hailed the best comedy film director of the century in Poland.
The plot is inspired by a real heist carried out in the second half of 1950s near Pleszew by unknown offenders, who killed four people - two cashiers, a guard and a driver.
The film was made with assistance from the state police.
Local photographer Roman Jacenko starts an affair with bank cashier Beata. Based on information obtained from her, he plans and carries out a violent attack on a cash transporter, killing three people and seriously wounding Beata. Unexpectedly, as the only photographer in the area he is asked to help with the investigation, which makes it possible for him to cover up his tracks. Despite this, captain Pyrkosz quickly notices his odd behaviour. The killer fears that he may be identified by Beata, who is recovering in hospital. He doesn't realise that the police is already on to him.
