The last years of Dagny Juel’s life and her relationship with Stanisław Przybyszewski presented as a biographical story. The film skillfully conveys the spirit of Decadence which opposed the bourgeois stabilization.

The end of the 19th century. Dagny Juel starts her studies in Berlin where she meets and marries Stanisław Przybyszewski who already has three children with Mata Foerder that commits suicide when she finds out about their marriage. Because of her death they are boycotted and cannot enter artistic circles. Lack of money forces the couple to go to Norway. Przybyszewski gets an offer to assume a position in “Życie” in Krakow. Already in Krakow he has an affair with Jadwiga Kasprowiczowa. Dagny gets back at him and flirts ostentatiously. A tragedy happens. The poet Korab-Brzozowski rejected by the Norwegian commits a suicide. Wishing to get rid of Dagny, Przybyszewski entrusts her with Stanisław Emeryk, their common friend whose father is the owner of a manganese mine. Dagny goes on a journey. Przybyszewski is to join her soon. Dagny waits patiently for him, the time flies and Przybyszewski doesn’t turn up. Emeryk kills Dagny and commits a suicide.
