Criminal Records

(Zapis zbrodni)

1974   >   drama/action/psychological

A detective film based on a true story. The authors used various techniques used in documentary forms. The film is a reenactment of the shocking murder crime committed in 1972 by two young residents of Konstantynów near Łódź, shown through the eyes of the killers and people from their environment. Sensational action is only a pretext for drawing a detailed sociological and psychological portrayal of the lead characters.

The film was awarded the Silver Lions at the Polish Film Festival in Gdańsk.

Interesting roles by Jerzy Bończak, Wacław Radecki and Mieczysław Hryniewicz, an actor known best for his role as Jacek in the hit TV series “Zmiennicy”.

It’s the early ‘70s. Kazek and Bogdan, two friends from the lower levels of society are looking for ways to get a lot of money. The unscrupulous young men decide to kidnap and murder a taxi driver. They follow through with their plan, but there’s not enough money. They soon commit another murder. The men aren’t aware that the police immediately caught on to them and that their actions caused public outrage. When Kazek and Bogdan find out they’re wanted they make a desperate attempt at escape. Once arrested they’re taken to the crime scene to re-create the murders.
