Polish reply to “Truman Show” and “EdTV”.

A superb cast with acclaimed stars of the Polish cinematography and the back then beginning actors Marcin Dorociński and Sonia Bohosiewicz.

A powerful media satire, using schemes of genre cinema, black humor and parody to reveal the mechanisms that stand behind the popular reality show programs.

A house on a lone Island, 2 million zloties to be won, ten determined people and one murderer: this is a recipe for top viewing figures in the history of television.

A minor conman Czarek, while escaping gangsters makes it to the cast of the latest reality show. The ten participants are locked in a house on a lone Island. Each one of them is ready to do everything to get a gigantic sum of money and fame. When candidates for the main prize begin to disappear mysteriously, a storm cuts the island off from the rest of the world and Czarek is the main suspect. He starts his own investigation, which is to help catch the murderer. After a horrible night everything proves to be merely a TV provocation. Czarek ostentatiously leaves the program but even this gesture is shown by the media in a different light.

Maciej Ślesicki wanted to present how reality shows blur the boundaries between fiction and reality and consequently lead to negating ethical and social norms.

Even though the film director denies it, the film includes some very clear references to the Polish edition of Big Brother. The host of the program is called „Big Sister” and some of the participants resemble the people who took part in the first edition of the great TVN hit.
