A skillfully filmed detective story about with fast-paced action focusing on the search for a mysterious killer.

Someone kills a girl in broad daylight – the event takes place in Opole. A similar murder is committed a few days later in Cracow. A watchmaker is killed. In both cases no-one sees the killer or hears a gunshot. The militia, led by captain Zawada, start an investigation. They quickly determine that both victims died from the same weapon. Another person is killed, this time in Wrocław. Captain Zawada finally finds clue. The same unidentified man appears on pictures taken at the funerals of the victims from Opole and Wrocław. The captain tries to create a psychological profile of the killer. He considers what motives led him to commit the murders. Another person is killed in Toruń– a young construction worker. The militia begin searching in hotels in Toruń, there’s a stake-out at the cemetery where the victim is to be buried. While searching an apartment the captain notices a doll a girl received as a from a man who stayed the night. The clue leads them to the killer who is apprehended in his own apartment in Cracow.
