Dreaming Tablet

(Tabliczka marzenia)

1968   >   slice of life/ for the youth

Screen adaptation of a popular young adult novel by Halina Snopkiewicz, made by the author herself.

A realistic, slightly didactic story about coming of age and facing the problems of the adult world for the first time. It offers a convincing portrait of psychological evolution of the main character, who gradually abandons her naïve, childish vision of love, learning to accept the reality and appreciate the important things in life.

The life of teenage girl Ludka is happy and stable. It revolves around friends, school, family and secret fascination with a handsome neighbor. Ludka’s organized world falls to pieces when her idealized big brother decides to leave his wife for his mistress. The girl goes through a phase of disappointment and rebellion. She takes a dislike to her anonymous neighbor and becomes interested in a classmate who she didn’t care for before. While away at a scout camp, Ludka will have a chance to find out whether the interest is mutual.
