Signals: A Space Adventure

(Sygnały MMXX (koprod.))

1971   >   science-fiction

A monumental Polish-German co-production that was meant as an answer of the Eastern Bloc countries to the success of Stanley Kubrick’s “2001: A Space Odyssey” and the Star Trek series.

A screen adaptation of Carlos Rasch’s novel “Asteroidenjäger”.

The film has an international cast, with major roles played by two Polish actors: Piotr Pawłowski and Irena Karel.

In 21st century, the modern spaceship Ikaros travels across the universe searching for intelligent life forms. After hitting a meteor, it loses contact with Earth. When the rescue mission fails, the spaceship is deemed missing. Shortly afterwards, an international crew sets out on an expedition to decipher mysterious signals. The astronauts hope they are coming from the missing spaceship. Meanwhile, the survivors on Ikaros are in a tragic situation.

The film was screened in Poland in dubbed version.
