An original film by Stanisław Lenartowicz, an artist who after being unappreciated for many years is presently considered the “master of atomsphere” and one of the greatest creators of Polish cinema. “Spotkania” is a personal message about various types of love. It utilizes an unusual plot structure: the main story is interrupted by three autonomous novellas made to look like vintage movies.
The script is based on novels by famous Polish writers: Marek Hłasko (“Śliczna dziewczyna”), Kornel Makuszyński (“Zuchwała panienka”), Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz (“Stracona noc”) and Stanisław Dygat (“Lotnisko”).
Archive employees are arranging old film reels from unfinished and amateur productions. The lovely assistant Maja tries talking to the projector operator Wiktor, but her efforts are thwarted by subsequent film projections. Each shows another version of love. In the first story, a young artist falls in love with a girl who tricks him and takes over his apartment. The second story is about a romantic youngster unable to win the heart of a sexy maid. The lead characters in the third story only spend an hour together and their emotion is an unfulfilled chance. It is not until the screenings are over that Maja can tell Wiktor her secret.
