Shoot, Paragon!

(Paragon, gola)

1970   >   children’s, adventure and sports film

A movie version of the TV series “Do przerwy 0:1”.

One of the most popular films directed by Stanisław Jędryka, who became famous for his, nowadays classic, productions for children and young people. An adaptation of the novel by Adam Bahdaj, a well-known and liked author of literature for children. The collaboration of these two creators resulted in legendary TV series and films, such as “Wakacje z duchami”, “Podróż za jeden uśmiech” or “Stawiam na Tolka Banana”.

Excellent roles of young actors, particularly of Marian Tchórznicki, who deserves special recognition for his depiction of the title character, Paragon. Supporting roles delivered by a number of renowned Polish actors, such as Józef Nalberczak and Roman Wilhelmi.

Fast-paced and full of twists, the film tells a universal story of boys from poor families, whose life passion is football.

Paragon, a player of a backyard football team, is famous for his ingenious, but not always well-thought-out ideas. He resorts to stealing in order to get a real ball. When the truth comes to light, he is condemned by his friends. At the same time he deals with family problems, when his mother and the sole caregiver is taken to hospital. The boy stays on his own. Trying to cope with his difficult situation, he gets into serious trouble. A friend who plays for the Legia Warsaw team reaches out to him. Meanwhile, a youth football tournament is about to take place in which Paragon’s football team is to play.
