The Last Witness

(Ostatni świadek)

1970   >   action/ psychological/ drama

The film shows an intrigue dating back to the times of World War II.

Stanisław Mikulski, an icon of the Polish cinema, in the leading role. He became widely popular by playing Hans Kloss in the iconic TV series “Stawka większa niż życie” and is still popular with new generations of viewers.

A gripping action film showing how scores are settled and touching upon the important issue of Nazi war criminals who managed to escape unpunished after the fall of the Third Reich.

Over 20 years after the end of World War II guests from Germany arrive in a town on the Recovered Territories. A local doctor Olszak recognizes one of them as an SS soldier from a nearby concentration camp. Olszak was the only survivor of a prisoners’ massacre orchestrated by the Nazis. The doctor is convinced that the Germans will attempt to recover the treasures they hid during the occupation, however he cannot prove it. He tries to prove his point by following the alleged tourists, which puts him in a great danger as the bandits want to get rid of the last witness of their crimes.
