Manhunter

(Naganiacz)

1964   >   psychological/slice of life/drama

A shocking war drama in which a former participant in the Warsaw Uprising who tried to save Jews is unjustly accused of treason. The film is considered a part of the Polish Film School.

During the last winter of World War II, transports of Jews destined for extermination move across the country. Thanks to help of Michał, a former insurgent, a group of Hungarian Jews manage to escape. It is a tragic coincidence that the Germans have organised a big hunt in the area. Terrified, the Jews leave their shelter, thus becoming additional game for the Nazis. A girl who manages to survive is convinced that it was Michał's plan all along. The embittered man leaves the area.
