1971   >   comedy

A hilarious story of an unassuming postal worker who becomes a star of motorcycle and car racing, idol of the crowds and steering wheel virtuoso. Ultimately, it turns out that what really makes the protagonist special is his wild imagination which can turn dreams into reality.

A fishing aficionado Jacek spends every spare moment down by the river. He uses an old and battered moped as means of transportation. One day while fishing,  he becomes aware of the motocross race taking place nearby. By pure coincidence, he hops on a motorcycle and wins the race. He is immediately hired by a motorcycle club. The victory helps him win the heart of his beloved girl Krysia. Things are going great for Jacek as he wins every race.  He is wanted by sports officials and owners of motorcycle companies.  One of them even tries to kidnap him, but Jacek manages to escape with Krysia’s help.  Having become madly popular, he decides to participate in a car race, with Krysia as his co-driver. He wins again, but his massive popularity turns him into a cocky and smug person.  Put off by his attitude, Krysia leaves Jacek in the middle of the race. Police patrol checks drivers’ documents near Jacek’s favorite fishing spot. It turns out that Jacek does not have a driving license. He gets out of the car, crosses the road and suddenly finds himself next to his old moped, holding a fishing rod.  Car engines are humming in the distance.
