Marital crisis turns into a kind of a game between the spouses, who, while dependent on each other, fight for their identities.
A married couple of twelve years’ standing: he holds a high post, she is an architect. Both are torn by conflicting emotions, which leads to a serious crisis. He is solely focused on keeping up appearances, his image and how others perceive him. She is afraid of being lonely, but would rather die than let anybody rob her of her independence. Eventually, she cheats on her husband with a young student. Reconciliation and rekindling of their feelings seem near when it turns out that the husband has had a long-standing affair.
