Heaven on Earth

A story about how sappers won against saboteurs from the Wehrwolf organization who tried to blow up a chemical plant.

 

Despite the fact that the war was over, it’s still dangerous in Lower Silesia. The Germans left mines in strategic locations, including a chemical plant where fuel for the V-1 and V-2 rockets was produced.  The engineer Teresa Modlińska who was responsible for setting up the plant mobilizes a group of sappers. Lieutenant Święcicki is appointed as the leader. The sappers learn that the Wehrwolf organization wants to destroy the factory. They learn the mines can be detonated from the electrical works. That’s where Święcicki’s group is headed, but so are three ex-SS officers. One of them wounds Święcicki. Sergeant Bobrowski finds the wounded lieutenant. Working together, they defeat the saboteurs. Bobrowski dismantles the detonator wires.
