1975   >   action/ drama

An engrossing story about a double agent serving the western intelligence and the Polish counterintelligence.

Marcin Nowak, sentenced to life imprisonment, regains his freedom after an amnesty. He’s alone, his wife has taken their child and left him. Wishing to lead an ordinary life, he performs random jobs. He starts a relationship with Teresa, with whom he later escapes to Western Germany, where American intelligence becomes interested in him. Soon, he starts working for their unit in West Berlin. He agrees to be transferred to Poland. Shot in the leg on the border, he goes to the security officers by himself to reveal the goal of his mission. He starts collaborating with counterintelligence and gets his friend, a former partisan, to work with him. Marcin returns to West Berlin, where he’s verified positively. More and more agents are unmasked, which triggers an investigation. Tipped off, Marcin escapes and the counterintelligence help Teresa to cross the border together with her daughter.
